June, 2006 - Fort Meigs
From the Desk of Unterscharführer Frederik Fonger
Fort Meigs is a fully restored 1812 fortified position. This was a timeline event ranging from Vikings to the present, with everything in between, including Romans, German Medieval Pikemen, French and Indian, Colonial, 1812, Civil War, Spanish American, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, and various other impressions. We were set up in one of the seven block houses, and put up what was considered the best display there. Untersturmführer Herr Doktor Brian Benoit set up an impressive medical display that complemented our barracks display.
We became close friends with the Braunschweig 92nd IR, a WWI German unit, and they spent a great deal of time with us. The 2nd SS and 92nd IR, along with Native American support, claimed a resounding victory in Saturday's time warp battle. We fiercely defended the block house from an assault launched by the other units combined.
Congratulations to Morgan Reynolds, who was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class in the field by Scharführer Klark, for her outstanding dedication to the unit in the form of the photos on this site, as well as the site itself.
Overall, an outstanding event despite the oppressive heat.
