July, 2006 - Onondaga
From the Desk of Rottenführer Peiper Wolff

The first members of Das Reich arrived at the Onondaga campsite early Friday morning, followed in the coming hours by members of Panzergruppe West, 6th SS Nord, 101st Airborne, and 83rd Infantry. We were happy to welcome members of the Braunschweig 92nd IR as acting Volkssturm volunteers.

Das Reich's Aufklarung Abteilung 2, lead by Scharführer Reinhard Koenig, were the first to enter the Onondaga woods early Friday evening on a calculated scouting mission. Discovering the position of the American camp, the reconnaisance unit came within metres of opposing forces before encountering gunfire, against which the small group defended themselves fiercely in order to return to camp.

The following morning, German forces fought bravely in capturing and defending a main objective, despite being heavily outnumbered in both manpower and weaponry by American forces. After tireless hours engaged in combat under unforgiving sun and heat, the units were called back in defense of another key position. It was only with German abandonment of the objective that American forces were able to attain it.

Overall, an excellent weekend marked by superior reconnaisance and combative skills on the part of all participants involved.
