September, 2006 - Conneaut, OH D-Day Event
From the Desk of Rottenführer Peiper Wolff

In a surprise move Saturday morning, Allied troops came ashore on the beaches just near the German encampment, initially meeting only with Wehrmacht lookouts stationed in the area. The swift action on the part of Wehrmacht 352nd soldiers lead to expedient deployment of the ~ soldaten who were patrolling the area. Das Reich Aufkl. Abt. 2 was attached with the 11th ~ Norge soldiers under the command of Barry Anderson. Scharfuhrer Klark lead the Aufklarung troops to a rendevous with our Wehrmacht allies, from which the squad was given excellent opportunity to defend the front against the invaders. With the depth of the beach and height of our fortification, Scharfuhrer Klark’s sniping skills were once again the pride and credit of the unit. It is our pleasure to report that in battle, Aufklarung Abteilung was responsible for a one of the largest and most effective defensive points on the front. Despite the best efforts of all soldaten, the overwhelming number of Allied troops pushed our men back, leading many to final heroic acts in defense of their kameraden.
We are pleased to report that Aufklarung Abteilung staged a retaliatory mission against the Allied troops later that evening, codenamed “Operation Patti Melt”. An American soldier from the 83rd Infantry troops was captured by Scharfuhrer Klark and Unterscharfuhrer Fonger, and brought with them to Das Reich’s home encampment. Further interrogation by one of our covert agents revealed a tremendous amount of useful information, as well as provided a spectacle for the entire camp.
As always, the encampment and display put on by Aufkl. Abt. was exemplary, leading to a 3rd Place display award from the event organizers. Thanks are due as always to Scharfuhrer Klark and Unterscharfuhrer Fonger for their efforts in materials acquisition for and construction of our beachfront fortification. In addition to providing the most effective shelter and security, it was by far the best defensive structure utilized. Our unit is tremendously grateful to their continued and selfless efforts.
Aufklarung Abteilung would also like to offer thanks and welcome to all new soldaten met in the field this past weekend. We are especially pleased to have allied ourselves with two worthy and competent soldaten from the 383rd Wehrmacht. Our unit hopes to continue fighting alongside such excellent soldaten!
